Chez Noir in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, describes itself as an elevated, community-driven restaurant rooted in coastal California cuisine, the passion project of husband-and-wife team Chef Jonny Black and Monique Black.

The modern, seafood-centric menu showcases pristine ingredients sourced from throughout the Monterey Peninsula, featuring housemade ingredients such as baked goods, charcuterie, preserved produce, dry-aged fish, and fresh pastas, inspired by Chef Black’s experience with French and northern Spanish cuisines.

An intimate dining room, an eight-seat bar, and an exterior courtyard create a warm and inviting ambiance, where the team aims to provide relaxed hospitality to both locals and visitors to the region.

The team includes Chef Jonny Black, Monique Black, Nate Cohen as General Manager, Jenna Dahlquist as Assistant General Manager, Michael Cameron as Chef de Cuisine, and Paige Book as Service Manager, each bringing their own perspective and experience to the restaurant, with a focus on providing excellent service and showcasing the natural resources of the West Coast.
